After doing my orientation at CSUS I headed here for my morning meeting. I was early, so I spent a moment chatting with the two other new hires who will be working in tech support, Mike and Josephine. They're both students. They're lost like me.
So our ten o'clock meeting had about fifteen people. I got to introduce myself to everyone and meet the people I'll be working with. I guess it was just about everyone in the IT group. The Department of Food and Ag is made up of six corporate divisions, with something like a hundred and thirty offices throughout the state, employing a couple thousand people. Right here is the central IT group for the whole darned department. I think. I'm still unclear on a lot of things, but I'm pretty sure I'll be designing some websites soon.
In the meantime, my office is still a conference room. I don't have a desk or a computer. Right now I'm just killing time on Lauren's machine. She's only here after 3 a few days a week.
Joe had to quit holding my hand for a while to meet with someone. Later we're going to go furniture hunting at some state surplus depot. Setting up our office will be fun. We have a pretty big area for only three people. At least it seems that way now with only 2 end-to-end conference tables occupying the space. The room was at least 15' x 30'. We should take measurements soon.
I'm going to surf the web some more.
Oh yeah, someone brought like 3 dozen Krispy Kreme's to the meeting.
