Ahhh, the Etch-a-Sketch Animator from Ohio Arts. I think it helped me become a digital artist. If you don't remember this 80's classic, it's like a digital Etch-a-Sketch, with a 40 x 30 LCD display (talk about low-res!). You could store 12 images, then animate them in a sequence of up to 96 frames. That's 1.7 Kb of picture data.

I must have spent a thousand hours playing with that toy. Does anyone else remember them?

I had one but I have no artistic ability, so it was quickly abandoned.

That's so cool that it helped you out!

I don't remember them, but I have to say that you were an adorable child!
Hrm. If we added some facial hair to that picture, and parted your hair on the side, you'd look the SAME as now! lol

My animations always sucked! So I think I smashed mine and went back to the old school 10dpi etch-a-sketch

Does it make me old if mine had two knobs that moved a little metal pin across the inside to scrape off the magnetic "dust"... ?

Sigh... had no artistic talent back then either :(

I had the original and loved it! But does anyone remember it's sequal? The Etch-A-Sketch 2000? I wish I could post a picture of mine. It's a lot larger but more powerful and you can plug games into the back of it. You draw by using a stylus pen on a pressure sensitive pad and it would appear on the screen. I can't remember exactly but I think you could store 32 images and could use things like circle, line, zoom (a favorite of mine), and fill. Anyone else have an Animator 2000?
