Piano Lessons

I can't remember a time when I didn't want to take piano lessons.

My older brother Tom got more than five years of lessons when we were young. Tom got a lot of things I didn't get. But I was a clever child. I got into his instruction books and read them. I watched, I listened, I learned on my own. I practiced and practiced. I learned to read music a little, and soon I could play by ear. Before long I was writing music of my own.

I still practice frequently. I love to play for my friends when they're willing to listen. But I think I've gotten as good as I can get on my own. I want to be the best pianist I can be. So, 10 years later, I'm finally starting instruction next week. I just spoke to my new teacher Liz on the phone. She seems pretty nice. I told her my story. I told her I wanted to start with the basics and learn the rudaments of piano technique. She said I have a good attitude.

I'm really excited about this. I start on Tuesday. I'll let you know how it goes.
