Great News Today

"Congratulations! You have been removed from Surplus status. This means your position is not subject to reduction at this time and you no longer have priority consideration when applying for vacant positions."

I probably didn't post it in my journal before, but I was in danger of losing my job because of California's budget crisis. Back in August they applied "surplus status" to every employee with less than thirty months of service. At the time I had twelve, having worked my first ten months as a contract employee.

Anyway, as far as this year's budget is concerned, my job is safe and secure. Everyone on the team seems pretty thrilled. Apparently they like having me around.

Now we just have to get through the upcoming administrative transition.
