You all remember Juliecam.net, right? The award-winning design I crafted has been long gone, but apparently its spirit will live forever.

The Original

About this time last year I was mocking a fellow web designer who lifted all the graphics from Juliecam to promote his own "skills". You remember Jain? Ah, good times.

Web Design via Copy & Paste

Thankfully Jain has since reworked his site, although a few elements of mine remain if you look closely enough (the background tile, for example). On his links page he still lists Juliecam as "The best personal site i have ever seen." Flattery will get you nowhere, buddy!

That brings us to today's offender: Perl Guy.

The New Kid in Town

Perl Guy, a.k.a. Nic Lawrence, has apparently flown under the radar for more than a year. Julie sent me this link just today. Since the old Juliecam design is now defunct, there's not much room to complain. At least he's not claiming to be the designer. But he does claim to be a programmer, which makes me wonder why the Juliecam client-side mouseover JavaScript was copied line-for-freaking-line from the original site. I guess that's why he doesn't call himself "JavaScript Guy".

I'm still trying to decide if I should email this guy to give him a hard time. When I contacted Jain he went ahead and added "© Juliecam.net" to his site, which is far from anything I'd requested and didn't make a whole lot of sense.

Well, they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? I guess.
