Not that you were asking me, and Jarrett will certainly answer for himself, but I personally can't really stand video games and I just love the Gameboy.

It's functional and easy to use, especially for someone with little hands like myself. I find the controllers for the xbox and Gamecube to big and confusing. Plus the Gameboy is portable. You can curl up anywhere with it, take it in the car or on a plane. Everything about it is small...the device, game cartridges (handful of'em in your pocket or purse and you're ready to go), the sound.

Plus no big game station sitting in the middle of the floor with wires everywhere like a big ass trip hazard. It has all these benefits and it's cheaper.

My vote is for the Gameboy. Especially for a child.

Thanks sweetheart.

Should I get the Advance or Advance SP?

Advance SP (if I'm not confused)

Flip screen kicks butt and it's smaller than the other. And the backlit screen is much better (brighter and no glare) than the attachable light for the regular Advance. Jarrett has both, and I got stuck with the Advance on our trip to TX. It ain't bad but it's no SP.

I'm not sure any video game systems are going to offer a lot of software for children younger than 5.

But if you want to choose between the Gameboy Advance and the Gameboy Advance SP, definitely get the SP. The lighted screen alone is worth the extra $30.

I'm not really looking for usability right now. He has no clue. He just likes to push buttons and hear the sounds. He runs right to it and wants to play every video game somebody else plays. Plus I might use it in my days or boredom which is rare but still happens once in a while.
