It's worse than that, though. If the player had 20,000 MB, it would store 19.5 GB. As it is, it only has 19,073 MB.

What usually really skews the numbers is that they always advertise the UNFORMATED size... when you add all the sector/track overhead, filesystem overhead, etc., that takes up a good amount of space (we're not just talking a few bytes...). (1.44MB floppies used to be advertised as 2MB Unformatted... until someone came out with 2MB formatted-capacity, they decided it might be too confusing)

On top of that, subtract the unusable space caused by manufacturer defects, that can cause two drives of the same make & model to have slightly different sizes, too.

Also not everything in computers these days rounds up to the nearest power of two (1024)--in networking terms it's usually 1MB = 1000KB, but disk storage it's was still 1024 (well, usually it is, anyways). They're just trying to confuse us all :)
