The topic came up on Fark, and I commented that we had been asked to give up our surplus junk for the sale. I also bragged that I had just run into the governor. I usually mention that fact to everyone I meet.
Well, my inflated sense of self-importance must have fooled somebody. I got an email from one of the morning DJs at Kool 101.9 asking me to talk on the air about my experiences with the garage sale preparation. I wrote back and told them my experiences boiled down to recieving an email from facilities that said, "hey we're having this sale and we'll pick up your surplus gear at 10am tomorrow." Apparently they must be desperate for guests, because they wrote back again insisting I talk to them anyways.
That sort of thing ain't my bag.
But I have this guy's direct studio line if anyone wants to be famous. Heh heh.
The garage sale kicked off today. I imagine with all the publicity it's gotten that it'll be pretty mobbed. I don't think many people realize that the surplus warehouse is open to the public all the time. If you're in Sacramento you should check it out sometime (it's tucked away in an industrial complex in Natomas - 1700 National Drive). It's pretty neat. You can grab an old computer for like fifty bucks.
