I had a little get together on Saturday to celebrate the upcoming birthday. I spent all damn day cleaning and cooking a crapload of cocktail meatballs. But a lot of people showed up, and everyone seemed to have a good time, so all the hard work was worth it. And the meatballs were a really big hit.
Danielle helped me get some snacks together and brought a cake (and thank you for that!). David
As the night winded down we played some Halo deathmatch, and I'm happy to report that I pwn3d everyone. The night finally ended when David took Chris and Mike over to Lauren's. (Major props to David for getting people around safely.) David re-deposited Mike on my couch sometime in the middle of the night.
So, yesterday Danielle, David and Niki all came back to hang out. Mike talked me into buying Burnout 3: Takedown for the Xbox, and I'm sure glad he did. He immediately hailed it the "best game ever made," which is a bit of hyperbole, but not far off the mark. It's easily the most fun I've ever had playing a racing game. It's incredible, beautiful, fun and horribly addictive. Go buy it.
We played games, watched my new Alien DVD (thank you, Danielle!) and the season finale of Six Feet Under. Woah! It was an excellent episode with a jaw-dropping ending. Man, I love that show.
All in all, the weekend could only be described as action-packed. And my birthday isn't even until tomorrow. So far, I don't even have any plans for the special day. I'm hoping someone will call me up and offer to take me out or something. Then again, after this weekend, a quiet evening alone wouldn't be too bad.
(Note: this entry has been edited for content. I had a lot of jokes about Mike being an uncontrollable menace when he's drunk, and I think I hurt his feelings. I'm sorry, bud. I know I take a lot of jabs, but I do keep inviting you over. Hope you don't stay mad at me too long.)
