Holy Smoke! - Jarrett Heather
Jarrett Heather's Journal
Holy Smoke!
It's orange! I stepped out to meet Chris and Hence for lunch, and I couldn't help but notice how orange it is outside today.

The sun is shining the color you'd expect see about an hour before sunset. It's kind of unsettling to see that kind of warm glow at 11:30 in the morning.

There's a forrest fire in Amador County about 100 miles east of here, and a thin layer of smoke has settled across the whole sky. There are no real clouds, and at first glance it almost looks like a clear day. Buit the dim amber diffused sunlight has given the landscape a surreal, dream-like quality.

I wonder how well my digital camera would capture the scene. The auto-white balancing would probably artificially "fix" the orange light. Maybe I'll shoot a couple exposures when I'm done with my current task.

Current Mood: unsettled

Speaking of digital cameras. Do you need to borrow mine for your trip??

No thanks. Mine will do fine (or my brother's Digital Rebel).

I do need CD jewel cases, though. Do you have some you can spare?

I was wondering that this morning before I read in the paper (yes i read the paper now, wow!) that it was a fire and then Danielle confirmed it too. I was thinking of taking some pics too but it probably wouldn't show too well on cam.

There's actually 2 fires, so we're getting it from both sides.

That Amador one... KCRA's website said "officals do not expect it to be 100% contained until October 30" (or something like that)--is that a typo or is the fire really that out of control???
