We recorded the episode Three Chips for Sister Marsha, where Alton shows three different ways to make chocolate chip cookies: The Thin, The Puffy and The Chewy. Danielle and I both agreed that chewy cookies are where it's at. Although neither of us has had much baking success in the past, we decided to try to follow Alton's instructions as closely as possible and try to make some decent cookies. Mike lent a hand as a willing kitchen assistant and taste tester.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that we created were the greatest cookies ever produced by mankind. The delightful treats that emerged from our oven can only be described as one of the pinnacles of human achievement. These cookies were amazing.
Per Alton's instructions, we invested in a 1 oz. disher. This thing is awesome. Money well spent.
Here are our perfectly dished cookie dough scoops ready for baking.
Mike checks on the cookies. "Lookin' good!"
The finished product.
Best. Cookies. Ever.
The only thing bad about the whole experience is that the cookies didn't last very long. The recipe only made 23 cookies, and they were all eaten by Wednesday.
I think we'll make a double batch this weekend. If anyone wants an amazing cookie, feel free to stop by.
