Myspace Sucks
I've been trying to make my profile look like a well-designed web page.  You can't really use myspace to create a design... you sort of have to trick it into doing what you want it to. You end up with styles that look like this:

table table {border: 0px;}
table table table {border-width: 1px; ...}
table table table td {background-color: ...}
table table table table {border: 0px;}
table table table table td {background-image: ... }
table table table table table td {...}

If I saw a stylesheet written like that under normal circumstances, I'd recommend having the author commited.

After much tinkering, I think I did okay with the tools provided.  My profile page looks better than most.

Don't worry, having seen what one would need to do to do that on MySpace, I won't hold it against you :-)

I was helping Jon the other day copy some styles into his that he was finding on some of those myspace-styles websites, and I was shaking my head at some of the CSS code.

You'd think MySpace would have littered the template with a bunch of class names to make it easier and cleaner to do...

No they don't apply unique classes anywhere... and you can't create styles for the few ID's on the page because it filters out pound signs. That also makes it really interesting when you need to define color codes in hex.

Oh yea--what you did looks pretty cool.

I think MySpace users that make the text on their pages impossible to read should be committed :-)

what's funny was that i was actually looking at your myspace page last night (before seeing this lj post) and was rather impressed with how much nicer it looks than anything else i've seen on myspace.
