I realize there may be a few people out there who haven't heard, and I've been pretty bad about keeping my journal updated. But, really, there's an explanation for this. I've been working hard on getting my own website put together, complete with a blog and photo albums and all kinds of nifty apps. The content of the site will likely be filled with more baby stuff than anyone would probably care to see. But progress has been sporadic at best, and another new website project has temporarily put my personal site on the back burner again. Unfortunately, the dials on my back burners are often set to "off" (not recommended for preparing an actual meal). As a result, publicly available information about my life has grown really out of date.
My excitement about being a dad can't wait any longer. The news was a complete surprise. We weren't trying, but we weren't exactly not trying. All in all, the timing couldn't have been better. I just turned thirty, y'know, and I can't get away with playing video games and watching cartoons all time. Well, I suppose I could, but it would start to seem creepy eventually.
Besides that, I have a lot of knowledge, morals, ideals, and extremely valuable genes that need to be continually perpetuated through the human population. While my new blog will eventually help me share my ideas, very few people have shown any interest in sharing my DNA. Danielle is already convinced the kid takes after me. Her cravings are all shifting toward foods I like and she's even developed strong aversions to foods I tend to turn away. You see? My kid is taking control. I dig that.
We're very much looking forward to next Friday, when we should find out what sex the kid is. Although I hesitate to admit it publicly, we're both hoping for a girl. Danielle's intuition has told her it's going to be a boy. I figure there's a fifty percent chance she's right. Feel free to place your bets now.
So, I'm going to be a dad. I really can't wait.
