Friday night Julie went out to hang with her girlfriends and do girly stuff, so I hung out with Anna. We just went to the mall and did some shopping. I ended up buying the Logitech GT Force Racing Wheel for Gran Turismo for $100. It came with a free set of Labtek speakers too, which I think I'll hook up to my computer here at work if I can remember to bring them in.
My initial impressions of the wheel... it takes a little getting used to, but it makes the game much, much more fun. Some reviewers say that once you get the feel for the wheel, you'll be a better player because it offers better control than the dual shock. We'll see about that. I don't have too much time to practice this week because I'm hard at work on Juliecam.net.
What else did I waste money on this weekend? We ended up returning our defective 3Com Webcam to CompUSA, and they couldn't find any to exchange. They had 5, but they just couldn't find them, and I guess they figured it would be easier to refund my money rather than look.
Anyway, we went to Best Buy to get the replacement cam, and they only had one, and it rattled around in the box like it was missing most of its packing material. We have three of these things, so I'm familiar with how well-packed they usually are. Julie asked if they had any others, and they said they were just unloading a shipment of stuff, but didn't know if they had any coming in, and didn't really bother to try to find out.
So we decided to stop into the Linens 'n' Things next door, and that's where I wasted $120 on new sheets for the bed. They're probably the nicest sheets I've ever owned or will ever own (100% Cotton "Sateen", 250 thread count, blah blah blah). They're much softer than my old "bed-in-a-bag" sheets, which are apparently fashioned from some sort of fine grain sandpaper.
Just when I thought my spending was over, this morning at midnight the demo expired for my firewall/NAT software, shutting down all Internet traffic on the network. So I had to shell out $150 to purchase the 5 user license necessary to get things running again. God forbid you'd have to leave the room to go find a computer to check your email on.
And it's not over yet. I have to buy stuff for Pixel the Wonder Kitten, who I plan to go pick up this weekend, but haven't really run that plan by the breeder yet. He still needs a catbox and litter and food and stuff.
